A Small Business Administration ethics committee normally reviews loan requests made by from members of Congress and federal officials or their relatives if they hold key roles in companies requesting loans. But a rule approved by the Trump administration April 13 suspended that ethics process as part of the $660 billion Paycheck Protection Program. Policy experts and government watchdogs said the blanket waiver could allow officials to write the rules to benefit themselves. |
